This year’s poster is an homage to the great Marcello Mastroianni in a photogram from Federico Fellini’s “8½,”. According to the organizers, the choice is also a celebration of “a cinema that is free and open to the world, acknowledging once again the artistic importance of Italian and European cinema through one of its most stellar figures.”.
For the grand opening we saw, as expected: Grace of Monaco, the controversial film by Olivier Dahan, sad to have missed the attendance of the Royal Monegasque family, due to their discard for the way princess Grace was portrayed by the director. That’s a downer right? I am always thrilled to see which Chanel dress Princess Caroline will appear in, or the unique style of the Casiraghis.
But well not all is lost, there are other wonders in the Line Up such as the tribute to Yves Saint Laurent, this year’s festival promises to outstrip in the fashion department, can’t wait! Whoever wins the Palme D’Or this is already a win for us.
Speaking on wins, I couldn’t let the amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS go unmentioned, on the 22nd Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc will once again receive this smashing event. What does Carine Roitfeld planned for us this year? Will se pull it off, outdoing last year’s success? Who will be auctioned? Can’t answer yet. I’ll tell you this, what I do know is that Robin Thicke, Lana del Rey and Aloe Blacc will be preforming, down the runway we will see the colour Red, in honour of the unique Marilyn Monroe one-of-a-kind looks will be created by All the top designers. As soons as therer are updates you’ll be the first one I’ll tell!
