“Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” – Winston Churchill

With the death of godfathers of Couture such as Scherrer and Pipart the question remains: Is Haute Couture dying? Or is this a new beginning?

One thing is certain Couture as we’ve gotten used to know is gone; this year’s Couture Week was proof of that. Cutting edge collections and controversial designers now rule the throne once led by the classic.

Raf Simons Punk’d up Dior, Maison Martin Margiela brought to the game idiosyncratic materials such as vinyl and denim… vinyl and denim in Couture?? You bet! Alexandre Vauthier and Bouchra Jarrar showed us the sexiest trousers looks (pants, pants, pants people)! Heidi Slimane who has given the house of Yves Saint Laurent a grunge makeover has revealed that under his leadership YSL could return to the couture runways, and we can only yearn and guess what’s coming.

As women evolve so does couture along with her, and this new generation of oh-fresh designers are leading our fashion mecas into the future, let me say that they are doing a fine job at it.

“It’s a new day, it’s a new dawn, it’s a new life” N.S.
