On West 23rd Street where the old YMCA building once stood (great Feng Shui hun?) now lays Cindy Gallop’s luscious Black Apartment, designed by Stefan Boublil from Soho’s creative agency The Apartment, and it was shaped to dramatically showcase Cindy’s collections.
Resembling a Chinese lacquered box, this all-black-night-club-in-Shanghai environment is the perfect canvas to pop out thirty years of travel and collecting, haunting flea markets, junk shops and antique stores, plus the 300 pairs of fab heels that are displayed along the width of the apartment. Every single object has a story and somehow, someway it all fits together and it all looks like it has lived there forever…
“Give up white and turn to the dark side!” – Cindy Gallop
