Kicking off today at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès is the 66th edition of the Cannes Film Festival advocated by a picture of Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward shot during the film A New Kind of Love. Beautiful people in the billboard extending the welcome to more beautiful people in the red carpet.
Opening the festival is the Great Gatsby by Luhrmann staring Leonardo DiCaprio and the British actress Carey Mulligan. 20 contestants in the Line up as great as Roman Polansky and the Coen Brothers are waiting for the verdict of the Palme D’Or’s panel, led by Steven Spielberg.
Promising to outshine the festival itself is amfAR’s 20th annual Cinema Against AIDS. Carine Roitfeld put together a Gold Themed catwalk event honoring the eternal Cleopatra, Elizabeth Taylor, staring 40 lavishing golden creations by Christian Dior, Gucci, Giorgio Armani, Louis Vuitton, Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, Burberry, Roberto Cavalli, Alexander Wang, Pucci, Fendi, Givenchy and Prada.
